BBC BREAKFAST INTERVIEW

From BBCnews,

With Album sales of over ten million, Keane have become one of the Uk's biggest selling bands. Their fan base today might be global, but ten years ago, it was pretty much confined to a small part of East Sussex where the band grew up. And that's where Keane will kick off their latest world tour tonight, to mark the release of their new album. Tim Muffett's been to meet them.

TIM: 'WE'VE BEEN VERY BUSY IN THE STUDIO...'

From KM.com,

Hello everyone. Apologies for the recent radio silence from Keane HQ. We've been very busy in the studio trying to bash a huge pile of new songs into shape. We started with a list of about 40 songs I think, and our job for the last few months has been to narrow that down to a shortlist of about 15.

It has taken us a while to find an atmosphere and an approach which feels right for the songs and which ties the whole thing together into one cohesive story, but things are finally starting to feel right. Songs that have eluded us through many different attempts are clicking into place at last. And it seems like we're all agreeing on a 'sound' for the album after a lot of experimenting with different approaches. There's still masses of work to do, but it's all really exciting and I feel like you guys are going to love it. I hope so anyway!

We were in the very posh Air studios in Hampstead last week. Rocksteady rhythm magicians Richard and Jesse did most of the work, but Tom did some singing too, and I muddled through a couple of piano parts in between trying to work out the chords for Bohemian Rhapsody (that way lies madness). Below are a few photos donated by Messrs Hughes and Quin.
We'll keep you posted…!

Lots of love,

Tim

A day full of surprises!!!

By casuality, today I was looking around the forum and found incredible surprises!

Here we go with the news....

IT'S CONFIRMED!!! The new single by Keane called Spiralling is out in August, Monday 4th!!! It'll be a free download at www.keanemusic.com so be quick!

More info at http://keaneshaped.co.uk/disco/spiralling.htm

And now this is a note the guys left for us:

Dear friends,

As you'll have gathered from our many and varied blogs, broadcasts and photos, we've been lost in a world of new music over the last few months - writing songs, pushing our limits, making fools of ourselves, and generally having a wicked time. We started out in Paris, where Jon Brion inspired us to create first and think later. We took the night train to Berlin, where everything came together in an avalanche of experimentation that took us all by surprise; where we made a pact with Stuart Price to ignore the rules of good taste; where we were hypnotised by Marlene Dietrich and spent many a long night throwing ideas around in the crumbling Cabaret-esque glamour of our favourite bar. We've hidden ourselves away in the depths of the English countryside, recorded a new track in London at the last possible moment, and now we're in Los Angeles tying up the loose ends. We've had an amazing time making this album and we're very, very proud of it. It's called Perfect Symmetry and will be released on October 13th.

Tom, Tim and Richard

ps - Keep an eye on keanemusic.com. We've got a treat coming.

In fact, the album is called PERFECT SYMMETRY!!! and it will be out on October 13th!!! so mark it in your diary or calendar!!!

ohh and there's a new official keane forum:
http://forum.keanemusic.com/

that's all for now.....I'll be looking for more news : )

Yes, it's a note from Tim and here it is too

15.2.08

After three weeks of working on songs in Susses, we're now in Paris recording. All sounding energised, weird, new and exciting. Can't sleep- brain racing with thoughts about synthesiser parts and drum fills. This does not bode well. Legendary American producer and musical genius Jon Brion arrived yesterday to contribute his whirlwind of crazy ideas, pushing us even further out of our comfort zone than we've already pushed ourselves. Learning a lot of him, which I always love.

Fun night out with the Puppini Sisters (in town playing a song) on Monday.
Many mojitos consumed, and much nonsensical fat-chewing. Lovely people. They sprang a gorgeus a capella rendition of Everybody's Changing on us, raising raucous applause from everyone in the crowded bar. Barmen in white lab coats still merrily serving us champagne at 3am. What a fine city.

Today we're going to raid the store for timpanis. For Tom to sing into.

Tim

Geee!!! They're recording!!! I'm glad for the three of them. I'd like to hear the Puppini Sisters' cover of EC. I bet it sounded good.
ohh mojitos! I want one, please lol

Before leaving, yesterday Valentine's day was a good day. It was also my parents' wedding anniversary. They celebrated their 21st so our original idea was to go to a restaurant but when we went out it knocked me for six that every restaurant was very crowded. At a loose end about the situation, we bought a roast chicken and took it to home. We enjoyed it a lot and listened to Keane =D

I <3 Timmy!
