TIMES: KEANE ARE COOL AT LAST
That particular joke may be drying up, too, though, since even Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol has told Keane that he thought they were brave to release Spiralling. The band were initially unsure about it. Rice-Oxley, who writes all the songs for Chaplin to sing, says: “I played the demo to the others and they said ‘Ye-ah, sounds like it could be good’, which is Keanespeak for ‘it doesn’t sound very good at all’. It felt a bit scary I suppose. But I love all that stuff: that big snare sound is from Man in the Mirror [Michael Jackson], and the song was inspired by When Doves Cry [Prince] and that song, Magic Dance, from Labyrinth, which I love. It took a while to convince everyone that it wasn’t just a bad joke.”

MAKE YOUR OWN 3D GLASSES
As you know, on the evening of April 2nd Keane are making history with the world’s first ever live webcast in 3D. Special Keane 3D glasses have been given away with 7-inch copies of Better Than This. But if you'd like to make your own, then we've knocked together this template for you (to print it, right-click the instructions, then select "view image" or "show picture", then print).
Email us a picture of how you get on to ontour@keanemusic.com...
And if you really can't find any coloured cellophane, then one alternative is to use felt tip/fibre pens to colour a red and a blue patch on a clear plastic CD case, then look through that - not perfect, but it should work!

TIM SINGS YOU A SONG!!!
Well, here's a Friday treat for you. It's Mr Tim Rice-Oxley performing a song for your delectation. Here's what Tim has to say about it:
We had a couple of days off in Rio at the end of our wonderful Latin American tour. In between swimming in the sea and drinking coconut water on the beach I thought it would be nice to record a cover version to keep my musical brain ticking over. It's pretty rough and ready but I really loved doing it and I hope you enjoy it.
Tim
what can I say? OMG! He's amazing and these days I seem to think more about him and being SOOO in love with him :D

KEANE IN TARATATA!!
5 years have passed since their debut with SOWK on the European charts. But very quickly, Tom, Tim and Richard have been critisized by the press. The journalists were saying that Keane was copying what did Coldplay. Then journalists found also that their music was too much characterless because they use piano instead of big rock guitar. But yet, they have sold 5 million of their first album H&F, which contains other huge singles like Everybody's changing. 2 years later, in 2006, their second album UTIS has been, as it came out, instantly placed on the top of the British charts, helped by the clip Is it any wonder ? with its nice melody and its fantastic clip with the cameras that turn on all directions. And in 2006 also, Keane is invited for the first time by Taratata and come telling what they are reading in their Cristal ball (bad joke from the presenter ! lol). In any case, says the presenter, what I can read in my cristal ball, even if our 3 guys are still some kids () is that they had influences very 80s, like Depeche mode from where they made the cover of Enjoy the silence. Amonsgt the other sources of inspiration for Keane, we can find Ultravox. And then, the presenter continues, on their last album, there is one song that makes immediately thinks of Ashes to ashes, from David Bowie. Another possible influence is Tears for fears, even if the guys were very young at that time. In any case, one thing for sure, is that they like very much the band The Cult, from whom they made the cover of She sells sanctuary, a song that dating from 1985. At the end of 2007, in the great tradition of the 80s Festivals for Charity, like Live Aid, Keane has supported a gig for WarChild, an organisation that helps kids victims of the wars. They made a very nice action for charity, and also a very nice cover of Under pressure. All this matters brings us to their 3rd album, Perfect symmetry, proced by another great 80s fan, Stuart Price, who worked a lot with Madonna. In UK, the album has been announced by a "robotic" clip. Until now, Keane has been not very much appreciated by American audience (), and the fact that The lovers are losing is an excellent song but with a very bad clip has not helped. Regarding the story of the clip, we could think that we are in the 80s. But we can forgiven because the song is really great. And... btw guys, with your huge passion for 80s, you surely have the impression the be born 20 years too late, no ?

RICHARD'S LATIN AMERICA PHOTOBLOG
RH: alex. artist; photographer; long-term keane collaborator. where are you right now?
AL: I'm in Brazil. I am in Tim's hotel room with you, Jesse and a [possibly slightly] drunken journalist. As. You. Do.
RH: cool. why do we have the pleasure of your company?
AL: Cos I am here to take lovely photos of your time in brazil, and if you have your way with me, as you have tonight, make me drink irresponsible amounts of alcohol on a school night.
RH: sorry about that. it's tim's fault, as usual. So what kind of glamorous evening have you had? presumably something pretty amazing?
AL: Yes of course. Y'know, the usual faces. What can I say about those that you and they haven't heard before? Oh, how we laughed... No, for me the highlight was 24 hours of travel to wind up in a Brazilian strip mall riding on Tim's back trying to joust someone off Jesse's shoulders after a wee dram or two. Erm, or something like that. Did I mention I love these guys? Oh dear. Oh dear me very much. I should be working or sleeping but I don't know where I am.
RH: on that note, i'm gonna post a couple of pics that i took on the way back, and say g'night. see you tomorrow, folks!
