RICHARD'S NORTH AMERICA PHOTOBLOG

From KM.com,

Myriade Cafe, Montreal / Saturday / 1400

I've escaped a dusty but sunny and hot festival site to grab a coffee in Montreal - I'm in a lovely cafe, recommended by Momiji Kishi, no less: http://www.cafemyriade.com/ so i'm gonna upload a couple of photos from last night in Toronto. It was a really fun show - great crowd, really loud singing, fun atmosphere, not to mention the sweet smell lingering in the air... i took a couple of photos after the show - it's such a beautiful city, and being on the shore of Lake Ontario sets it off perfectly.

RICHARD'S NORTH AMERICA PHOTOBLOG

From KM.com,

House of Blues / Las Vegas / 1057

we've had a great first few days of the tour. i'm gonna post the photos from the stage in Oakland and LA (and they'll soon become clickable, hopefully), and various other bits from the last few days. I woke up at 5AM, just as we parked up in Las Vegas, so i went out for a wander with my camera - it was already ridiculously hot (i guess we are in a desert), but the light was amazing as the sun came up. forecast is 42 degrees C / 107 F today.

PURE POP FOR NOW PEOPLE INTERVIEW

Click here to read the whole interview :)

Some of the article...

Tell me about some of your influences, especially as the piano player.

TRO: Piano was the instrument I started out on as a child, but one of the things that made our band quite unique is that most of my influences were guitarists or electronic music like Depeche Mode or Kraftwerk, or a lot of that 1980s stuff … people like The Pet Shop Boys, and U2 and REM and Radiohead and Bowie – classic bands – people who are known for being more generally about guitars. I guess I took that sense of that kind of expansive, melodic guitar parts and used it. Rather than being about twiddly solos, it’s much more about creating sonic landscapes for the vocals and lyrics to fit into – a kind of impressionistic approach to sound. I think taking that inspiration and applying it to a piano is probably what made Keane’s sound unique. It’s a pretty bastardized approach to playing piano that would probably be disapproved of by anyone who’s been classically trained. I think it made for quite interesting results.

RICHARD'S SUPER BOCK SUPER ROCK PHOTOBLOG

From KM.com,

The very lovely Mr Neil Tennant came to say hi after the show, and I took the opportunity to take a photo for your viewing pleasure. I think it's fair to say that without the Pet Shop Boys, Keane would be a very different band, if it existed at all. here we go... i'm off to dig out my suitcase.

MT. DESOLATION PICS

From Mt. Desolation's website,

Handsome men

Going to the pub instead.

Tim gets nervous crossing roads. I suggested stepping over the traffic. Lanky git.

Tim and I are having a well earned beer. Everyone's disappeared. They've probably gone somewhere that's cool and didn't want to invite us. Coz we're not cool. JQ

In other news. There has been much making of music. (see below).

TIM'S SONG ON NEW KYLIE ALBUM

From KM.com,

We thought you folks might like to know that the new Kylie Minogue album is out this week, featuring a very lovely song called Everything Is Beautiful, which was co-written by our very own Tim Rice-Oxley. You can hear a 30-second clip of the song on the player above.

Isa says: I found the full song on youtube. If you wanna hear it click below and sing it along with the lyrics :) I like it!

Everything Is Beautiful - Kylie Minogue & Tim Rice-Oxley

Beautiful x2
I’m losing my way in this night
Walking away from the light
Surrender will be my escape
Breaking the walls of my mind
I’m one step ahead of truth
I hear what I want to hear
And I hear you…
CHORUS
And if I lie with you long enough
I can see the things I’m dreaming of
Let’s go through the ritual
Until everything is beautiful
Beautiful x2
Learning a taste for this high
Bending the rules of what’s right
Fooling myself feels so sweet
Reality looks black and white
Pulling the ripcord I dive
Its a cardboard kingdom
But it makes me file like
CHORUS
Beautiful x2
And now I’m traveling at such blissful speed
No need to think at this velocity
The things I fear begin to fade to black
Now I’ve found my map and I wont go back
CHORUS x2
Beautiful x2

RICHARD'S FOREST TOUR PHOTOBLOG

From KM.com,

Home / Friday / 0930

sorry for the very late final update, but i didn't have internet access at home until yesterday. now, after a day of pointing a satellite dish at various parts of the sky, i finally do! the last forest show was great - a natural amphitheatre at Cannock Chase - a great atmosphere, another sunny day and gorgeous sunset. then we headed off to Glastonbury to take part on the 40th birthday party - it was really nice to see so many familiar faces there, and it looked (and sounded) like everyone had fun. the singing along to our cover of U2's With or Without You was ridiculously loud. With a bit of luck we'll be able to see them play there next year. So here are a few final photos - thanks so much to everyone who came along to a show, or has taken the time to look at the blog!

i know this photo looks a bit wonky, but it is lined-up straight (look at the trees!) - the whole backstage at Cannock was on a slope, but it didn't stop Tim busting out the acoustic...

anf this pic is not by Richard but it was posted by km.com on twitter... worth it!
